Romandia Labs
About

A Vaud-based Sàrl.
An ambition that doesn’t stop at the border.

Who we are

Romandia Labs grew out of a simple observation: in a matter of months, AI made possible what was unthinkable two years ago. But technology alone isn’t enough. It takes ideas, rigour, and a deep grasp of the terrain: regulatory, human, economic.

Based in the canton of Vaud, Romandia Labs is led by an engineer fascinated by the intersection of technology, regulation and entrepreneurship. We write code, we read the law, we talk to clients. We’d rather ship a testable MVP than write an 80-slide deck.

The founder

Jean-Paul Vasilières

St-Cergue (Switzerland)

After more than 25 years designing, automating and maintaining mission-critical IT infrastructure, I founded Romandia Labs to help Swiss SMEs use AI in a concrete, useful and controlled way. My approach isn’t to sell technology for its own sake, but to solve operational problems: documents to classify, emails to analyse, reports to produce, processes to make reliable.

That foundation was built in demanding environments: international private banking in a 24/7, regulated setting, then large-scale retail (650 stores, 25,000 terminals, real-time financial transactions). Contexts where rigour, security and documentation are anything but optional.

Today I’m channelling that experience into AI applied to SMEs, currently training as an AI Business Specialist, with a federal diploma targeted for October 2026.

Why Romandia Labs

The name signals our roots in French-speaking Switzerland while carrying an ambition that reaches beyond the border. “Labs” means we experiment, we invent, we’re not afraid to try. It’s a stance as much as a promise: we stay curious, we test, we learn, we go again.

Our conviction: AI has democratised the ability to build. What makes the difference today is no longer the resources — it’s the ideas and the rigour with which they’re executed.

Our convictions about AI

Five lines we repeat internally, and stand behind externally.

  • Conviction 01

“An AI project without a human sponsor fails. Every time.”

  • Conviction 02

“The cost of an LLM isn’t the subscription. It’s the inference, the maintenance and the technical debt.”

  • Conviction 03

“If your AI is biased, your business is biased.”

  • Conviction 04

“Compliance isn’t a cost. It’s the price of trust.”

  • Conviction 05

“The best model is the one your users actually adopt, not the one with the best benchmark.”
